Her Last Letter

Photo by Suzy Hazelwood on Pexels.com

The last letter she sent,

It called you to the lonely place

She once called home

It spoke of tender love, sacred things,

And promises shared

The delicate words and faded midnight ink

Reminded you of a life

That used to be,

One intertwined hand-in-hand with hers

It recovered memories of mistakes made,

All the words you did and didn’t say

It reminded you of how you left her

When she needed you most

The last letter she sent,

It unearthed the truth you couldn’t face
