Remnants

Photo by James Wheeler on Pexels.com

Hidden among fog shrouded mountain trails,
Are traces of a time from long ago
Ancient carvings embedded in even older stone,
Their meaning now unknown
Trickles of magic crackling throughout
Crisp air, remnants of those
Who believed in myth and legend
Statues of deities who watched over the land,
Shaped in their honor and fortune
Centuries later, there still are signs left behind,
Clear to those who choose to search
Slivers of a distant past,
Remembered through the ages
