Artist Admiration #2 – Linda Ursin

I’ve checked out some of Linda Ursin’s work, and wow, is it amazing. Beautiful colors blended together expertly, landscapes that capture the beauty of nature, delightful creatures; her art has it all. So, it’s my pleasure to introduce Linda Ursin as the second Artist Admiration guest on Introverted Creativity. Get ready to meet a wonderfully talented artist!

Meet Linda

Tell me a little about yourself! Include your background, hobbies, whatever you’re comfortable with.

Born and raised in northern Sweden, I now live in a small village in the middle of the Norwegian mountains with my daughter, husband, dog, and cat. My list of hobbies is very long. In addition to art and photography, I also enjoy a large number of different crafts. I am a multi-passionate, so I love trying new things and if I havenโ€™t tried a specific craft or art medium yet, I probably will sooner or later ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe with the exception of things my body wonโ€™t tolerate, like forging. I doubt my shoulders and back would like that. The reason I mention that is that I have a chronic pain condition. I also do a lot of computer-related stuff, like graphic design, web design and maintain websites for clients.

What type of art/craft do you make?

My paintings and drawings are often inspired by folklore, mythology, the Scandinavian landscape, flora and fauna

What supplies and materials do you use?

The materials I primarily use are acrylic paint, watercolour, pencil and couloured pencil but on occasion, I add others too

How long have you been participating in arts/crafts?

Well, I’ve been drawing since I was a kid but I started the business in 2010

What fandoms and/or OC’s do you create art for?

Well, don’t know if stories from before the 1900’s count. But if they do, it’s creatures from folklore and mythology

When did you first start making art, and what inspired you to do so?

I’ve been creating art since before I can remember so I can’t say what inspired the first attempts. As for painting, I just tried something new and liked it ๐Ÿ™‚

Who are your favorite artists?

To name one of the older ones, I’d have to say Monet is one of them. As for currently living ones, I’d say Matthew Cornell and Gwenn Seemel as two examples.

What has been the most rewarding part of your artist journey?

The only thing I can think of right now is the self-discovery it’s brought and the return to confidence that followed. Also that it’s a welcome distraction from pain.

What has been the most challenging aspect of your artist journey?

The demands of other people has definitely put up some obstacles. Also the advice of so-called experts have led me astray more than once.

How do you overcome artist’s block/lack of inspiration?

I don’t really get blocked. The only times I don’t create in some way or another is when other things use up my time and energy.

What most inspires you and your work?

I would say that’s a combination of Nature and my spirituality

How does creating art make you feel?

That’s hard to describe. It’s fun and relaxing as well as challenging sometimes. And when you conquer those challenges it’s very rewarding

What’s your favorite piece of art (that you’ve made)?

At the moment, I would have to say that my favourite is the “Serpent”. It’s the largest piece I’ve made so far and the best one I’ve done in acrylics, in my own opinion https://lindaursin.net/product/serpent/

What are some long-term and/or short-term goals you have for your art?

I’m currently working on three series of paintings and I’d love to finish one this year. Two of the series are long and the third involves large landscapes so we’ll have to see about that. A long term goal is to replace my disability pay with my own income.
